meet your therapist
LISA RIVERS, BSW, MMFT, LMFT
Hi, I’m Lisa.
I believe each of us can find fulfillment and balance by pausing to reflect on our stories and knowing and embracing ourselves.
My work as a therapist is deeply grounded in creating a safe space for reflective moments where you can define and create authentic self and valued meaning within all areas of your life.

Juggling my marriage with owning and operating a business, and motherhood for the last 20 years, I know firsthand the struggle of being a high achiever prone to stress, anxiety, and work-life imbalance.
To help manage my symptoms I reconnected with self and was reminded of valued living.
It was with the passing of my father at a young age when I learned the importance of fully living every moment of our lives. My father said if he could do it all over again, he would “eat more butter and smoke more cigarettes.” The sentiment behind his words (not the additional butter or cigarettes) led me to approach my own life with intention and purpose.
I went back to school and opened my practice to help high achievers, like me, create purpose and meaning beyond the daily grind. As a result of working together, my clients experience more satisfaction from their life and work.
My Approach
I believe you are the expert on your own life and with pause, you can find your path forward.
In the therapy room, I meet you where you are, encourage you to explore your potential, and offer alternative ways of thinking so that you can create the life you envision for yourself.
We are going to learn to play, reprioritize your life, work towards your goals in ways you never imagined, and bring joy back into all areas of your life. I am going to challenge you, offer observations, expect you to do your part, encourage you to see your own worth, remind you that you are enough, paint a picture of you doing things you never thought possible, and allow you to envision your own path forward.
Change is possible and the time to invest in your life is now! If you are game, so am I.

*Most importantly, I hold both my educational and professional backgrounds with gratitude, humility, and acknowledged privilege. I am aware that many brilliant, compassionate people never get these same opportunities. These milestones don't make me more worthy; they simply equip me to serve in work that gives my life meaning. Our value is inherent, not measured by accomplishments, certificates on a wall or credentials after a name. Therefore, I share the above knowing that the true honor and privilege is walking alongside clients, peers, supervisees, and students on their relational journeys with self and others.
My Values & Beliefs
I value, embrace, and affirm diversity as well as the interconnected complexity of the layers of identity that are at the core of each individual person’s identity as well as group identities. I strive to embody an open and safe stance that will facilitate dialogue as a way to honor our differences.
